Occupational therapy

Content-rich activities are significant when we are in a hospital environment. It is difficult to be satisfied when we are isolated from our everyday life and for this reason people cannot wait to leave the hospital.

We have great news – at our Dr Vorobjev clinic we are continually devising various activities to make our patients feel pleasant, and we pay great attention to occupational therapy.

Occupational therapy fills people’s time and allows them to get away from their problems and see all the beauty of life that awaits them.

What is occupational therapy?

Occupational therapy is part of the inpatient treatment that includes various manual, creative, recreational, educational, intellectual, and other activities aimed at achieving and improving the physical and mental functions of the patient.

The goal of occupational therapy is to speed up rehabilitation and prepare the patient for return to the social environment, that is, resocialization

Our main goal is to enable people to embark on new life journey satisfied and full of enthusiasm, and we believe that their stay at Dr Vorobjev clinic is significantly helpful for this.

Occupational therapy meets the diverse needs of every human being.

People have various needs: for achievement, belonging, recognition, self-respect, respect … At our Dr Vorobjev clinic, we pay attention to all these needs, because without them there is no recovery and a new beginning, and this is exactly what our patients need.

Occupational therapy techniques

Since we do not want our patients to find occupational therapy boring, we have devised ways to make it enjoyable. It is important that patients keep an active lifestyle even after leaving the clinic and use all their potentials. This can be achieved by the following techniques:

  • Conducted: it is important to rely on and follow therapist’s instructions, plans, and directions (creative brain, puzzles, problem-solving);
  • Sedative: they act soothingly to patients, especially the female patients, who are therefore very keen on them. Painting with oil, tempera or watercolor, clay sculpturing, and similar artistic activities make it possible to express those feelings that cannot be communicated verbally.
  • Inventive: here patients are asked to invent and find solutions within the tasks they get, and the point is to reawaken their creativity (making greeting cards, paroles, making jewelry, decoupage technique …;
  • Free: these techniques are chosen by patients themselves according to their personal choices and interests;

We also give great importance to intellectual activities.

Intellectual activities can be watching movies or light intellectual activities (reading, quizzes, fun games, chess). The essence is in relaxation, and we want to offer our patients as much as we can to make them feel at home.

We believe that it is essential to stimulate all the levels of human functioning, so we offer recreational activities (gymnastics, walking, gym, bowling, billiards, darts, trips …) and they have a beneficial effect which speeds up the recovery. Our patients love these activities and make new friendships, which we are incredibly proud of.

We are aware that occupational therapy is an essential factor in healing, so we try to adapt it to each patient individually to get the best out of him and strengthen his self-confidence and self-esteem.

When it comes to addictive disorders, people often forget how much power and potential exists in them. They feel helpless and do not see the exit from the maze in which they found themselves. That is why we are here, to remind them all the time how much they can actually do because all power is in their hands. We always try to awaken their belief that they can live a wonderful life because everyone deserves such a life.

Addictive disorders are dangerous also because they ruin people’s faith in themselves. Our patients often do not see the solution to their problems and feel extremely helpless. Our role is to remind them of the strength and potential they carry in themselves and which they can use to regain control over their lives.
